Current:
Dave has been touring and recording with the Dixie Dregs and
the Steve Morse Band since 1988, and has just completed a new
CD with the Steve Morse Band, "Out Standing In Their Field".
When not working with the Morse band, LaRue keeps busy working
with other artists, including Joe Satriani, Dream Theater's John
Petrucci, Vinnie Moore, and the L.A. based band Planet X. With
long time partner Glenn Alexander, Dave is getting ready to record
a new CD with their band, Stretch. He has also released through
his web site his book of transcriptions, titled "Dave LaRue:
On the Record", and is working on wrapping up his second
solo record. He is also writing, playing and producing for various
artists in the central Florida area.
Dave will be touring the world in 2009 with the Steve Morse Band
in support of their new release, and expects to tour with Stretch
upon the release of the upcoming CD.
Education is a big part of Dave's career, so he wrote an instructional
column for Bass Player magazine (for whom he also served as a
member of the Advisory Board), for several years. Dave also does
clinics internationally for the Ernie Ball - Music Man Co., and
teaches privately in the Orlando area when his schedule permits.
Dave is an adjunct professor at Stetson University in Florida.
He has also done seminars at the National Music Expo's and at
the National Guitar Summer Workshop in Connecticut. In addition,
Dave will be doing a second instructional video, to follow up
his internationally released Warner Bros. video, "Essentials",
as well as a bass method book, ad a new series of on-line lessons.

5 basses. One Sterling is equipped with a Kahler tremolo bridge,
and one has a HipShot de-tuner. One of his StingRay 5's is strung
high, from low E to C. All of his basses are strung with Ernie
Ball Extra Slinky strings.
For amplification, Dave uses Ampeg SVP Pro preamps, into the
new SVP 1500 mosfet power amps. His speakers are the SVT Classics,
which are 4 x 10 cabinets with a bullet. The rig also contains
various signal and effects processors.
